Health and safety Audit
Do we need a health and safety audit?
If you are looking to improve your health and safety performance, a Health and Safety Audit is the answer. Are you considering one just to tick a box, then no you don’t. There isn’t a legal requirement to have one but you must ensure the safety of your employees and others.
If you really want to improve and get better, you need to know where you are today. The best way to achieve this is to have an impartial Health and Safety Audit of your entire management of health and safety. As the old saying goes, “knowledge is power”.
Can we do a Health and Safety Audit ourselves?
Technically the answer is yes. However, the benefit of using impartial advice is to think and listen outside of the box. Internal employees may not realise that something is wrong or there are dangers as they have always “done it this way”.
Also, consider spending time and effort making changes and improvements in areas that you simply didn’t need to. You could waste a lot of time and money focussing on the wrong things.
An audit will give you a targeted report over what is doing well and what is not doing well whilst all the time remaining impartial.
It's all about the facts...
It isn’t uncommon for internal teams to want to protect their bubble and may not report any deficiencies in fear of reprisal. External auditors only deal in fact, what they can see, read or prove.
You need to be assured that you get the complete picture and from there you can move forward and improve in a sensible way.
What about the costs?
You only pay for time, from documenting evidence to writing the report, there are no hidden charges or costs. This will vary from business to business depending on the size and complexity of your business and current management systems.
If you are a larger company, you may choose to go though this process by each division or you may wish to tackle the entire process in one go. Whichever way you need to work, we can accommodate you.
