what is CITB SSSTS training?

Following on from completing the CITB Health and Safety Awareness training, you could then  progress onto supervisory responsibilities.

Opportunities of a Chargehand, Site Foreman or taking on supervisor duties/assisting management, could be achieved through completing a CITB Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS).  This course predominately looks at safe working in the building, construction or civil engineering environment.  A safe site equals efficiency, economical and productive.

The CITB Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme is run over two days and is recognised by the Build UK body.  The course will run through these main areas:

  • Law and Legislation
  • Supervisory Skills
  • Safe Systems of Work
  • Occupational Health
  • Fire
  • Hazardous Substances
  • CDM
  • PUWER
  • Work at Height
  • PPE
  • Manual Handling
  • Accident Investigation
  • First Aid
  • Monitoring

After completion of the SSSTS course and successfully qualifying, the CITB certificate is valid for 5 years.  This is can then be renewed by completing the SSSTS Refresher rather than re-sitting the 2 day course again.   Once qualified there is the opportunity to advance onto management responsibilities (SMSTS)
